Dog Locked In Carrier Found Dead In Ditch
An investigation was initiated through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department during the weekend after a resident discovered that a pet carrier in a ditch held a dog that had died.
Deputies met with the resident who made the discovery on Perry Lane Saturday morning. She reported she had spotted a pet carrier in the ditch while driving along the roadway. She said that she checked the carrier and found that a small, black dog locked inside had died.
The dog bore no collar or identification. Detectives with the department are continuing to delve into the matter in the hopes of identifying the owner.
